Counter service is a form of service in restaurants, pubs, and bars where food or drinks are ordered at the counter. Counter service is also called “bar service” in the case of pubs and bars where the counter is also called the bar. Counter service is compared with table service where service is provided at the table. With counter service, the customer generally pays before consuming the food or drink. Some fast food restaurants offer only counter service while table service is the common form in most restaurants. For pubs and bars, bar service is the norm in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland whereas table service is the norm in the United States and Continental Europe.

Table service:

Table service is food service served to the customer’s table by waiters and waitressess, also known as “servers”. Table service is the norm in most restaurants, while for some fast food restaurants counter service is the common form. For pubs and bars, table service is the norm in the United States whereas counter service is the norm in the United Kingdom. With table service, the customer generally pays at the end of meal. Various methods of table service can be provided. See, for instance, silver service.

Gueridon service:

Gueridon service is a form of food service provided by restaurants to their guests. This type of service encompasses preparing food (primarily salads, main dishes such as beef stroganoff, or desserts) in direct view of the guests, using a “Gueridon”. A gueridon typically consists of a trolley that is well equipped to prepare, cook and serve the food to the guest. There will be a gas hob, chopping board, cutlery drawer, cold store (depending on the trolley type) and general working area.

Demand for meat products has been growing over the years in almost every part of the world. They have became the choice of several multi-ethnic countries and they love to taste different types of dishes made of it. There are several reasons for this increased preference like:

• Wide Variety of Cultures

Different cultures are being followed by people all over the world. They are intermingling these days which have resulted in the acceptance of meat as a delicacy. Most of the societies and communities of the world have taken it as a staple diet. Moreover, different religions are also supporting it as a whole.

• Rich in Protein

It is a rich source of protein for humans. These days, they are considered as one of the prime sources of protein in diet. If it is taken in proper quantity by considering the body requirement, then it is very useful for the body.

• Taste

It is relished all over the world in different cuisines as an important food item all over the world. And, it is due to the taste that they form the major part of the menu in parties, marriages and other events. People love to enjoy several dishes made of meat.

• Variety Galore

Variety of anything matters a lot because different people have different choices. People have choices like lamb, chicken, beef, goat etc. Seafood is also an important variety and they are very rich in protein.

• Quality Processing

Demand and supply are two important marketing strategies. As per the demand of people, several suppliers are flourishing in the market. And, they are taking useful steps towards quality processing and packaging. They work with the motto to maintain its freshness and quality. And so, they prefer hygienic and standardized methods of meat processing for better results.

Savour the Best Taste!

The term barbecue is derived from the word barbie’. It originated from Australia and New Zealand. The South Africans call it as Braai. This is popularly used method of cooking which uses heat and hot smoke of fire. It is popularly tried out in the outdoor with the use of wood and charcoal. However, hotels make use of a different material to carry out the heating process. They make use of brick or the modern way of cooking with metal ovens specially meant for this type of cooking.

There are different variations of this, Brazilians cook it differently from Australians. It is also found by researchers that barbecue with potato salad is considered to prevent cancer. This releases favourable molecules in the digestive system.

Grilling food also makes use of direct fire. You can either use the grills on the direct gas, oven or direct fire. It allows food to cook slowly with out getting charred. Using a grill prevents it from burning excessively. The same can be tried for vegetarian food too. It offers amazing flavour to your panneer and capsicum grilled stuff. If it is tried out on gas grills, it does not produce bad smoke unlike the others. It does not allow build up of ashes which would have otherwise made your food taste strange. Grilling on gas is the best method of cooking your food. Moreover, it is good for those who are calorie conscious as barbecues are cooked without the use of oil or ghee. Hence, it is good on diabetic and heart patients too. Enjoy your juicy chicken and beef roast in a different flavour!

Non Vegetarian Diet for Body Building:

When bodybuilding, a reasonable goal for weight gain is adding one to two pounds per week. Use the scale, but rely on the mirror as well to ensure most of the gains are coming in the form of muscle (as opposed to fat). If fat gain is becoming an issue, either decrease total calories, increase the amount of cardio performed or reduce the frequency of “cheat” meals.
On the subject of cheat meals, it is expected that people will slip off of their diets from time to time, and that is no exception when applied to bodybuilders. In general, you should aim for at least 90% compliance with your diet plan. That means if you eat six meals a day (42 weekly), you can “cheat” on four. Remember that a cheat is defined as either eating a bodybuilding-inappropriate food or skipping a planned meal.
Regarding post-workout nutrition, this should consist of liquid carbs and protein in roughly a 2:1 ratio (50g of carbs to 25g of protein, for example). The drink should be consumed immediately following your workout, and can be as simple as whey protein added to milk. Proper post-workout nutrition is the key to making solid gains.

Loving food and chasing down the flavors that make us particularly joyful is a natural experience. We all need food to survive and we all prefer to enjoy the food we introduce into our bodies. Food can be a healthy form of energy or it can be an unhealthy obsession. When your love affair with food starts to add girth to your middle it is time to check the manner in which you love your food.

Many of us did not learn healthy food ideals as children. We were generally taught to love it incessantly and use it to fill our souls as well as our bodies, or we were taught that food makes us fat and we need to be cautious. There is a wonderful middle ground for the food lover that is in conflict. Eating too much isn’t healthy but neither is denying your body food. The basic requirement of healthy eating is rainbow eating, where you simply make sure that the foods you eat come in all kinds of varying natural colors. Rainbow eating does not imply that you choose twelve different colors of candy. It means that when you look at your plate you should see brown and red and most definitely, green. This means that you are introducing your body to some of the healthiest tastes available while eating in a balanced manner.

As you cook your food, remember that how you cook creates either a healthy or unhealthy meal. If you saturate and drown your foods in butter, salt, oils, and artificial flavorings you are killing the nutrients and the healthy effects. However, if you rely on natural flavors and you bring out those flavors by adding nominal amounts of additional cooking ingredients, you are creating a healthier option for your body.

Food variety means eating a wide variety of foods (a balanced diet) from within and across each of the five food groups, in the amounts recommended. Eating many different foods helps maintain a healthy, well-balanced and interesting diet that provides adequate nutrition. Eating a variety of foods can help prevent diseases such as diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease.

Choosing a variety of foods within each group will also help to make your meals interesting, so you don’t get bored with your diet. The major food groups are:

* Fruit
* Vegetables, legumes
* Lean meat, fish, poultry, eggs, nuts, legumes
* Bread, cereals, rice, pasta, noodles
* Milk, yoghurt, cheese.

Why food variety is good for your health:

Eating a wide variety of foods increases the likelihood that you will be exposed to sufficient quantities of all essential nutrients, which vary in amount and combination among different foods. This will help to improve your health and may help prevent diseases like:

* Diabetes
* Cardiovascular (heart and circulation) disease
* Cancer.

Good food variety means good nutrition:

If you eat a variety of good food, your diet will provide you with adequate nutrition. However, you should remember that:

* The way in which foods are grown, stored and prepared can affect nutrient value.
* Food variety is not based on how much of each food you eat or how often you eat it.
* Providing energy (kilojoules) is not the only reason for food variety. It also helps ensure that important dietary components which provide no nutrition, such as fibre, are included in your diet.

About Variety Food:

People belonging to different places eat different foods, this all is according to their habitat, culture and rituals.. Food is anything eaten to satisfy the appetite and to meet physiological needs for growth and to maintain all body processes, and to supply energy to maintain body temperature and activity.

Eat a Variety of Healthy Foods:

* Greek Souvlaki
* Hamburgers, Cheeseburgers and Gyros
* Tri-tip sandwiches, Smoked turkey legs, Corn dogs and Roasted corn
* Teriyaki chicken skewers, Cinger chicken bowl, Fried rice and Chow mein
* Fried calamari w/cilantro lime sauce, Barbecued oysters, Crab cakes
* Garlic fries, Barbecued sausages, Hot links and Hot dogs
* Pulled pork and Beef brisket

Variety of foods at breakfast:

According to Australia’s last national nutrition survey, high school-aged girls were more likely to skip breakfast than boys. The report found that around one in three girls aged 12 to 15 did not eat a regular breakfast, compared with 13 per cent of boys.

* Add a spoonful of sunflower seeds to your cereal
* Top your toast with a sliced banana
* Sprinkle diced dried fruit over your cereal or add some canned fruit
* For a quick breakfast on the go, prepare a whole grain sandwich with baked beans and cheese the night before and toast it in the sandwich maker the next morning.

Research has already shown that students who eat breakfast pay more attention in class, retain more information and are more interested in learning, but this is the first study to show that variety at breakfast is also important.

Eating a breakfast of toast with a glass of milk and some fruit seems to be better than just a large serve of toast alone. This may be because mental functioning is affected by the absorption of a variety of nutrients, including calcium, iron and B group vitamins.

Chocolate berry tiramisu cake:

Ingredients:

* 600ml thickened cream
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 3/4 cup caster sugar
* 500g mascarpone cheese
* 1 1/3 cups freshly brewed strong coffee, cooled
* 2/3 cup hazelnut-flavoured liqueur
* 500g packet Unibic Sponge Finger biscuits
* 250g frozen raspberries
* 250g frozen blueberries
* 100g dark chocolate, grated

Method:

Line a 24cm (base) springform cake pan with non-stick baking paper.

Whip cream until soft peaks form. Stir in vanilla and sugar. Whip until thick. Add mascarpone and stir gently to combine.

Combine coffee and liqueur in a shallow dish. Dip biscuits, 1 at time, into coffee mixture and use to line base of pan (cut to fit, if necessary). Top with a third of the mascarpone mixture, half the berries and a third of the chocolate. Repeat layers.

Top chocolate with a final layer of soaked biscuits, remaining mascarpone mixture and remaining chocolate. Cover and refrigerate overnight to allow biscuits to soften and flavours to develop. Serve.

Chocolate mousse cake:

Ingredients:

* 500g dark chocolate
* 2 tbs golden syrup
* 125g unsalted butter
* 4 eggs
* 1 tbs caster sugar
* 1 tbs plain flour, sifted
* Melted chocolate, to decorate
* Chocolate sorbet, to serve
* Coffee mascarpone
* 200g mascarpone cheese
* 2 tbs instant coffee
* 2 tbs pure icing sugar

Method:

Preheat oven to 220°C. Grease and line the base of a 20cm round spring-form cake pan with non-stick baking paper. Melt the chocolate, golden syrup and butter in a bowl over a saucepan of gently simmering water. Set aside to cool slightly.

Place eggs and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer or use an electric hand beater and beat on high for 10 minutes until very thick and pale. Gently fold in the flour then fold in the chocolate mixture until combined. Pour into the cake pan and bake on the middle shelf of the oven for 12 minutes. Remove from oven and run a knife around the edge of the cake. Remove collar from cake pan and transfer the cake to the fridge for 1 hour to cool (this step is important as it sets the middle of the cake).

Meanwhile, to make the coffee mascarpone, dissolve coffee in 1 tablespoon of boiling water and set aside to cool. Beat together the mascarpone, coffee and sugar in a bowl until stiff. To make the chocolate leaf, brush non-toxic leaves with the melted chocolate. When cool, peel the leaf off. Slice the cake and serve with a dollop of coffee mascarpone, a chocolate leaf on top and a scoop of sorbet on the side.

Many of us today with our fast paced lives grab an energy drink to pep us up or to help maintain awareness at the end of the working day, never thinking twice that it could be a health risk.

Nowadays we buy more energy drinks – especially the reduced or sugar free – readily believing it to be a healthier option to drinking a cup of coffee.

But after a study recently carried out found that just by drinking one 250ml can of Red Bull could raise the risk of stroke or heart attack, we should all look for a natural ‘pick-me-up’.

Our motto ‘good food good health’ is self explanatory and that by drinking and eating good food helps to enable your body to achieve and maintain good health.

There are many natural good foods that can give you that extra burst of energy of which bananas are a really good example.

Most types of fruit will give your body a ‘sugar rush’ that stimulates your brain and enables you to think and act quicker.

A fruit smoothie is a good way to get that natural extra energy boost and achieve one of your five-a-day too, and if you make it yourself with seasonal fruit can be very inexpensive when compared to purchasing energy drinks.

Cereal is another good food for energy, not just for first thing in the morning but any time, the best are whole-grain and are a good health food. Be careful when buying energy or cereal bars as some of these are high in fat, sugar and preservatives.

Many shops nowadays have taken it upon themselves to only sell some energy drinks to over eighteens, including Red Bull.

Worryingly, it is known that many young people are using these energy drinks to sober and liven themselves up after a night out drinking and partying, and are often consuming more than one can to do this wrongly thinking they are helping themselves.

After consuming one can – 250ml of the sugar free version of the energy drink, the ‘stickiness’ of the blood was found to increase raising the life threatening risk of clots.

The research was carried out on university students by Dr Scott Willoughby who said the study found their blood systems were no longer normal one hour after they had drank the red bull.

Their systems were ‘abnormal’ like you would expect to see in a person with cardiovascular disease, with an increase in stickiness and a decrease in the ability of the blood vessels to stop its stickiness that can add up to a bad situation.

If other risk factors for cardiovascular disease are added to this – high blood pressure and stress, potentially this could be fatal.

It is thought that two of the ingredients in the energy drink, the amino acid taurine and caffeine may be the cause of the problem, although individually both of these point toward benefits but it looks like the combination together has an odd effect and that this is causing the reaction.

Dr Willoughby said people with underlying circulatory or heart problems therefore should think twice about drinking the caffeine-loaded drink.

A can of the Red Bull has 80mg of caffeine equivalent to two instant cups of coffee or about the same as a cup of filter coffee. Cans do carry health warnings advising not to drink more than two a day.

The test results were concluded only from the sugar free version and it is unclear if these would be repeated with the regular energy drink, but there was alarm at the findings.

Even the students taking part were shocked as some has been known to drink several cans to stay awake at night to study.

Norway, Denmark and Uruguay have banned Red Bull because of health fears, but the company last year sold 3.5 billion bottles and cans in 143 countries.

In Britain, Red Bull is a popular energy drink mixed with vodka and other spirits in bars and clubs with last year sales reaching £271 million.

A Red Bull spokesman said ‘the study does not show effects which would go beyond drinking a normal cup of coffee’ but Dr Willoughby said ‘If you have a preposition to cardiovascular disease I’d think twice before drinking it’

Try and be prepared for that part of the day when you need a little ‘lift’, and have at hand a piece of fruit, handful of cereal or smoothie drink to get that ‘on the go’ good natural raw energy boost.

So remember ‘good food good health’ is the best way to keep your body working like clockwork, and a diet made up of a variety of good nutritional food will give you all the vitamins and minerals you should need to keep you feeling in tip top condition, being energised and alert without the use of energy drinks
